The media group RTL Germany has secured the rights to the European club competition and continues to expand its football portfolio. Exclusively on free-to-air TV, NITRO and RTL will broadcast 15 live European competitions per season from the 2018/2019 season onwards. The extensive TV contract with UEFA has a term of three years (until May 2021). The UEFA Europa League fixture includes six games of the group stage with guaranteed German participation and matches of the knockout round to the final. The TV contract guarantees Mediengruppe RTL an exclusive live broadcast and detailed highlights of all other matches per match day. In this case, RTL or NITRO, each of which determines the sender's position of a transmission, have the first right of access to which game they show.
